My shop is 1 part carport and 1 part storage closet. Unfortunately, my table saw doesn’t come close to fitting in the covered storage area. Therefor, it’s subject to the elements. The nice thing about a carport shop is that the wind takes care of most of my dust collection needs. The bad thing is my shop time is dictated heavily by the weather. Today I faced a major setback when I discovered by table saw covered in surface rust.
To remove the rust, I started with a round of scrubbing with a Scotch-Brite pad attached to a palm sander. That took care of must of the groseness and I switched to 220 grit sand paper for the rest. After the rust was gone I wiped the sanding residue with mineral spirits and added a coat of paste finishing wax to prevent future rust.

Buyer beware. In my opinion, it needs some upgrades before it’s ready for rainy season.
